What are Approvals
The Approval queue in Design Huddle gives the system admin the ability to work with the end user back and forth to ensure quality and integrity of the design. While using locking can limit the scope to which a user can edit a Template, the Approval system gives an added layer of protection for users who need an extra check prior to export.
Why Would I Set an Approval at the Category Level?
The most common way to use approvals is to set a role for a user that requires approval prior to any Project being exported. However, you can override this by setting an approval at the Template Category level. This would set approval to be required for all Templates in this Category regardless of whether the user role required Approval or not.
How to Override Approvals Using Template Categories
- Go to Admin
- Click Template Categories
- Click the Category Title
- Hover over the category you would like to override
- Click the ellipses icon (three dots)
- Click Approval Override
- In the approval override popup select one of the following:
- Fallback to Default: This status would fall back to what the User’s original role
- Approval Required: This status would require the User who is using a Template in the category to get approval prior to publishing or exporting
- Approval Not Required: This status would not require the User who is using a Template in the category to get approval prior to publishing or exporting
- Click Save
Once saved, then anyone who is creating a project from a Template that is in a Template Category will have one of the following requirements.
Watermarks can also be added to Projects that require approval prior to export. There is also a setting that will allow for Projects to be exported with the watermark prior to approval. The Project will only be able to be exported without the watermark after approval however. Please see our article on watermarks for further information.
Why Would a Client Want This?
- Flexibility: They might want to streamline workflows for some templates but maintain strict controls on others.
- Special Requirements: Some templates might be more sensitive, requiring extra oversight.
