Where You Can Create New Projects
When creating a new Project, you will have the option to start from scratch or from an existing Template. You can create a new project from two locations, the Create tab or the Projects tab. You can also delete a Project from the Projects tab by clicking on the ellipses and selecting the delete option.
To create a Project from the Create tab, follow these steps:
- Hover over the Create main tab
- Click either Create New Project (to start from scratch), or Create from Template
To create a Project from the Projects tab, follow these steps:
- Click the Projects main tab to open the Projects page
- Hover over the Create button
- Click either Create New Project (to start from scratch), or Create from Template
How to Create Projects From Templates
If you chose the Create From Template option, you will see your Template Gallery. From here, you can filter Templates by Design Type or Brand (if Brands is enabled in your system).
To create a new Project from the Template Gallery, follow these steps:
- Hover over the desired Template
- Click the plus icon (+)
Categories and their items are listed in the filter section of the Template Gallery based on their sort order. Admins will see all categories/items, but users will only see those that are not hidden and have been assigned to one or more Templates that they have access to. You can only filter by one item in the primary category at a time, but multiple items within each subcategory can be selected. The Templates returned upon filtering must match at least one selected item in each category.
*Note: If you do not see a Template to start from, you can click the Create New Project button at the top of the Template Gallery to start from scratch.
How to Create a New Project
If you chose Create New Project follow the below steps.
- Select the Media Type (Digital, Print, Video, or Presentation)
- Select a Canvas Size
Note: Media Type options are determined by your license agreement. Please reach out to support@designhuddle.com if you would like additional Media Types enabled.
Selecting a Project Canvas
When creating a new Project, you will be asked to select a Project Canvas to begin. You can either start from a Blank Canvas or to Import one of the below files to use as your Canvas.
- JPG
- PNG
- SVG (SVG is only available for Digital and Print Projects)
Design Huddle recommends that you use the PDF importer if possible. PDFs will come in fully layered so that you can manipulate the text, images, or shapes from the PDF. You will also be able to map the fonts from your PDF prior to upload. To learn more about the PDF importer see this article.
If you have Brands enabled, you will have the option to assign your Project to a Brand from here.
Once you have selected Blank Canvas or have uploaded a Canvas, you will choose the Canvas Size:
- Click the Drop Down to select a Canvas Size
- Select from Social Posts, Headers, Custom Size, or Custom Shape
- Click the Select and Continue button
The Custom Shape option will show for Digital and Print Projects. With this option, you can select a preset Canvas Shape or upload your own SVG shape to live on the canvas. This option is commonly used when creating stickers.
Note: You can customize the list of pre-created sizes by sending the dimensions to Design Huddle. Maximum dimesnsions can be increased upon request but may result in a price increase dependent on subscription tier and account type. Please contact support@designhuddle.com for more information
