User Portal - How to Create a Project

Where to Create New Projects

When creating a new Project, you will have the option to start from scratch or from an existing Template. You can create a new project from two locations, the Create tab or the Projects tab. To create a Project from the Create tab, follow these steps:

  1. Hover over the Create main tab
  2. Click Create New Project

To create a Project from the Projects tab, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Projects main tab to open the Projects page
  2. Hover over the Create button
  3. Click Create New Project
  4. Select the Media Type (Digital, Print, Video, or Presentation)
  5. Select a Canvas Size

To delete a Project from the Projects tab, click on the ellipses and select the delete option. The option to delete a Project can be hidden from the User Portal if desired.

Note: Media Type options are determined by your license agreement. Please reach out to support@designhuddle.com if you would like additional Media Types enabled.

Selecting a Project Canvas

When creating a new Project, you will be asked to select a Project Canvas. You can start from a Blank Canvas or import any of the supported file types below to use as the Canvas.

  • JPG
  • PNG
  • SVG (SVG is only available for Digital and Print Projects)
  • PDF (Account Admin Only)
  • Illustrator File (Account Admin Only)
  • EPS File (Account Admin Only)

Design Huddle recommends importing a PDF or Illustrator file when possible, though all file types listed above are fully supported. PDF and Illustrator files preserve editable layers so you can manipulate text, images, and shapes after import. You can also map fonts before uploading.

Once you have selected Blank Canvas or have uploaded a Canvas, you will choose the Canvas Size:

  1. Click the Canvas Size drop down
  2. Select from Social Posts, Headers, Custom Size, or Custom Shape
  3. Click the Select and Continue button

The Custom Shape option will show for Digital and Print Projects. With this option, you can select a preset Canvas Shape or upload a SVG shape to be the canvas. This option is commonly used when creating stickers.

Note: Custom Shapes can be hidden from the User Portal if desired. Please contact support@designhuddle.com if you would like to hide this option.
