Recommended Setup + Alternative Flows for the Shopify App

Configure the Customer Experience

What This App Does

The Design Huddle Shopify app enables customers to customize products and purchase their designs seamlessly. In this article, you’ll configure how the customization experience works, including the recommended setup and alternative flows.

Recommended Setup: Redirect Flow

Product Page Setup
Add:

  • Customize Button

Then configure:

  • Editor Mode → Redirect
  • Editor Path → /pages/customize

Create a Customization Page


In Shopify, create a new page Example: /pages/customize

  1. Open that page in the theme editor
  2. Add these blocks:
    • Editor Block
    • Add to Cart Block

Customer Experience

  1. Customer visits Product Page
  2. Clicks Customize
  3. Gets redirected to customization page
  4. Designs the product
  5. Clicks Add to Cart
  6. Purchases customized item

Alternative Setup: Modal Flow

Popup Experience
Instead of redirecting, the editor opens in a popup.

Add Customize Button

  • Set:
    • Editor Mode → Modal

Use this if you want everything on one page and  for a faster experience that keeps customers on the product page.

Troubleshooting

  • Button works but no editor shows? Check your Editor Path.
  • Wrong template loading? Check your Template Code Source.
  • Don’t see Design Huddle blocks? Make sure the app is installed.
  • App installed but customization does not load? Your Shopify store may need to be allowlisted for your Design Huddle environment.
