Overview — How the Design Huddle Shopify App Works

What This App Does

The Design Huddle Shopify app lets your customers customize products directly on your website before purchasing (for example: adding text, images, or designs). This article explains how the app works and the core pieces involved, so you understand the full setup before installing.

How It Works (Simple Flow)

Customers go through 3 steps: 

  1. Start → Click Customize 
  2. Design → Use the editor 
  3. Finish → Add customized product to cart

The 3 Key Components

Customize Button

Starts the design experience, opens the editor (redirect or popup), typically placed on the product page

Editor Block

The full design tool, lets customers add text, upload images, and customize templates

Add to Cart Block

Adds the customized product to cart, includes the customer’s design, required to complete purchase

Quick Mental Model

Customize Button → Start
Editor Block → Design
Add to Cart Block → Finish

Before You Begin

Make sure you have your Design Huddle Domain, Client ID, and Template Code Source. If you don’t have these, contact support@designhuddle.com.

Some Design Huddle environments also require your Shopify store domain to be allowlisted before customization can load. If your store is not yet allowlisted, contact support@designhuddle.com and include your Shopify store domain.
