Installation & Initial Setup of the Design Huddle Shopify App

What This App Does

The Design Huddle Shopify app allows customers to personalize products directly on your store before buying. In this article, you’ll install the app and connect your Design Huddle account, which is required before adding customization to your storefront.

Step 1: Install the App

1. Log into Shopify admin.
2. Go to the Shopify App Store.
3. Search for Design Huddle.
4. Click Install.
5. Approve permissions.
6. Open the app from the Apps menu.

Step 2: Enter Your Settings

1. Go to Settings inside the app.
2. Enter your Design Huddle Domain, Client ID, and Template Code Source.
3. Click Save.

Please note, Design Huddle environments use a Shopify store allowlist for access control. If your store is not yet allowlisted, the app may not function until your Shopify domain has been added. If access is blocked, contact support@designhuddle.com with your Shopify store domain.

Understanding Template Code Source

This tells Shopify which design template from Design Huddle should be loaded  should load for this product.

• Recommended option: SKU (best default for most stores)
• Other options (advanced): Variant ID, Product Handle, Metafields

All of these identifiers are managed from Shopify Admin > Products. Once you select your field, enter the corresponding Design Huddle Template ID into the field for the product to be accurately mapped.

Where to find or update the SKU:

1. In Shopify Admin, go to Products.
2. Open the product you want to customize.
3. If the product has variants, open the specific variant.
4. Find the SKU field in the product or variant details.
5. Enter a unique SKU value and save.

Please note, each SKU should uniquely match the Design Huddle template identifier you want to load.
