How to set up Accounts and Users for Turnkey

Accounts and Users help organize access in Turnkey. All Users must belong to an Account. Depending on how you want Users to access Projects, Templates, Brands, and User Groups, you can place Users under the same Account or separate them into different Accounts.

This is helpful when you want to control which Users can share Projects, access Templates, or use account-specific brand assets.

When to use separate Accounts

Create separate Accounts when Users should have different access or should not share Projects with each other.

Common reasons to create separate Accounts include:

  • You do not want Users to share Projects with each other
  • You do not want all Templates to be available to all Users
  • Each User or group needs a different set of Templates
  • Each User or group needs different brand assets, such as colors, fonts, or images

Separate Accounts are useful when you need to keep client Projects, Template access, or brand settings isolated.

When to use the same Account

Place Users under the same Account when they should share access and work within the same environment.

Common reasons to place Users under the same Account include:

  • You want Users to share Projects with each other
  • A single Brand is needed for all users
  • No specific Template Targeting is needed
  • Users need access to the same Templates or brand assets

Using the same Account is helpful when Users are part of the same client, team, brand, or organization.

How Brands work with Accounts

Brands allow you to manage specific colors, fonts, and images that can be used in Templates.

Use a Brand when a client or group needs Templates that follow specific visual guidelines. This can help keep designs consistent across Users who belong to the same Account. You can also target Templates to a specific Brand.

How User Groups work with Accounts

User Groups can be used when you only want to target specific Templates to specific Accounts.

Use a User Group when different Accounts or groups of Users should see different Templates. This helps control Template access without making every Template available to every User.

Once Users are added to an Account, their access is based on how the Account, Brand, User Group, and Templates are configured.
