Why Set Default Locks

Default Locks allow you to standardize and automate your template locking strategy. When Default Locks are configured, those settings are automatically applied to every new Template published going forward.

Please note:

  • Default Locks do not apply retroactively to previously published Templates.

  • By default, they do not override locking settings on Projects created from Templates.

There is an optional setting that allows Default Locks to override the locking on any Project created from a Template by the user. To enable this setting, please contact support@designhuddle.com.

Use Multiple Locking Profiles

You can create and save multiple locking profiles to support different Template use cases.

For example:

  • A profile where the left menu is fully locked down for standardized users.

  • A profile with minimal restrictions for highly customizable Templates.

Locking profiles make it easy to apply consistent locking standards without manually locking each element individually.

Applying Default Locks to a Template

To ensure Default Locks are applied:

  1. Turn Locking on within your Project.

  2. Select the Locking profile you want to apply to the Template

  3. The default locks will automatically be set on the elements in the Project

You can still override these Default Lock settings during the Template publishing process within the editor if needed.

How to Set Default Locks

Default Locks are configured from the top panel. Follow the steps below:

  1. Hover over your name in the top-right corner of the screen.

  2. Click Configure Locking Defaults.

  3. Click Add Profile to create a new Locking Profile, or edit the existing default profile.

  4. Select your desired lock settings for each element type.

  5. Click Apply to All to apply the selected settings.

  6. Click Save to finalize your profile.

Your Default Locks will now be applied to all newly published Templates moving forward.
