# How to Set Alt Text on an Element

Alt text refers to the descriptive text added to images, charts, or other non-text elements within a PDF file to make the content accessible to screen readers and assistive technologies.

To set alt text in Design Huddle follow these steps:

1. Click a shape, vector, or raster image on the canvas
2. In the left menu locate the **Alt Text** field
3. Fill in the field

The alt text will render in the meta data on PDF export. This will not work if exported to a JPG or PNG.
