What is Autofit?
Autofit is a feature in Design Huddle that automatically adjusts the font size so that text fits within the fixed dimensions of a textbox. The height of the textbox is maintained based on the number of lines in your sample text. For example, if a user inputs more content than expected, Autofit reduces the font size to keep the text within the boundaries of the textbox.
Autofit is primarily set via template locking however, beyond template locking, Design Huddle offers an optional setting that allows admins and users to apply Autofit directly to any new or existing text box. This provides more control for teams who want to design flexibly without fully relying on template-level locking. To enable this optional setting, contact us at support@desinghuddle.com
How to Use Autofit on Any Text Box
Once the optional setting is enabled:
-
Click on any text box in the editor.
-
Use the left-hand menu to toggle Autofit on.
This approach is ideal for:
-
Aligning multiple text boxes evenly across a layout.
-
Matching text size behavior with custom design elements.
-
Giving admins more flexibility while allowing user overrides.
Admin Behavior vs. User Overrides
When an admin toggles Autofit on in the editor:
-
The setting is preset in the template for users.
-
The admin can no longer apply Autofit via Locking for that text box.
-
Users can still disable Autofit on their end after opening the template, if needed.
