# How to Change the Thumbnail on Video Templates

Thumbnails on videos display anytime the user is selecting a video Project or Template. The thumbnail helps denote to the user what exactly the video contains. To update the thumbnail that appears when selecting video format Templates or Projects, follow these steps.

If the video is set as the Background: 

1. Click on **Background** in the left-hand panel
2. Click on the **Media**
3. Select **Video Settings**
4. Click on **Edit Thumbnai**l

If the video is set in a shape, zone, or just as a foreground object: 

1. Click on the **Video**
2. Select **Video Settings**
3. Click on **Edit** **Thumbnail**

From here, you have two options:

- Select a Frame from the video to use as the thumbnail
- Upload a Custom Thumbnail image

Once updated, the new thumbnail will be displayed when viewing or selecting the video Template or Project.
