When creating Smart Templates in Design Huddle you have the ability to replace any tokens used in textboxes with default values, visible in the editor and in any generated thumbnails. The token itself will still be displayed when editing the text directly, but will immediately update to its default replacement value upon edit completion. This is helpful in displaying an immediate preview of a sample final output to the user, but also when the data being populated is from a form with some optional text fields, ensuring that all tokens are replaced with something.
For example if you have a variable text field containing a token to fill in a person’s first name:
Hello, my name is {first_name}.
You can set a default replacement value for {first_name} like “John”, and it will appear like below in both the editor and in any generated thumbnails:
Hello, my name is John
To set a Text Token Default value follow these steps:
- Click on the textbox containing your token(s)
- In the left menu click on the Enter Tokens button in the Token Defaults section
- Design Huddle will automatically discover the token(s) and add entries accordingly
- Set the default replacement value in the Value field
If a token is not automatically discovered, you can add a new entry and enter it in the field. You can add more tokens in this menu by clicking the Add button, or remove them using the trash icon or the Remove All button.
