# Best Practices for Managing Templates

The **Templates** page provides a central place to review and manage the templates available in Design Huddle. This is helpful when you want to keep your template library organized, update template settings, make changes to existing templates, or remove templates that are no longer needed.

#### **When to Use This**

Use the **Templates** page when you need to:

- Find a specific template using search or filters
- Update a template's settings
- Edit the design of an existing template
- Export a template
- Hide a template from the gallery
- Delete a template that is no longer needed

Managing templates from this page can help keep your template library organized and make it easier to maintain the templates available to users.

#### **How to Find and Manage a Template**

To manage an existing template, follow these steps:

1. Open **Projects** and select **Templates** from the left menu.
2. Use **Search Templates** to locate a template by name.
3. Use the **Design Type** or **Subcategories** filters to narrow the templates displayed, if needed.
4. Locate the template you want to manage.
5. Click the **ellipses icon** on the template.
6. Select the appropriate action from the menu: 
     - **Edit Settings** to update the template's settings.
     - **Edit Template** to open and make changes to the template itself.
     - **Export** to export the template.
     - **Hide From Gallery** to remove the template from the visible template gallery without deleting it.
     - **Delete Template** to remove the template.

Once selected, Design Huddle will open the applicable workflow for that action.

#### **Best Practices**

For best results, use the **Templates** page as the primary location for ongoing template maintenance. Search and filters can help you quickly locate templates as your library grows.

Consider using **Hide From Gallery** when a template should no longer be available in the gallery but you do not want to delete it. Use **Delete Template** only when the template is no longer needed.

#### **MCP Support**

The Design Huddle MCP can help you find and inspect Templates, update supported metadata, change their Brand or User Group assignments, hide them from the gallery, and archive them when appropriate. It can also update an editable source Project and republish the result as a new version of an existing Template. The assistant previews consequential changes before applying them.

**Sample prompt:** “Show me the details and version history for the ‘Welcome Flyer’ Template, then change its expiration date to December 31, 2026.”
